Country completion rate estimates

This page enables users to see:

  • the completion rate trend since 1990
  • the data sources used to estimate the completion rate

You can select the following characteristics to visualize the completion rate:

  • country
  • education level: grade 4, primary, lower secondary, upper secondary
  • sex: male, female and total
  • reference age group

In particular, the plot shows:

  • [CR indicator] the average ‘timely’ completion rate estimate (blue line) (for those aged 3–5 years above the intended completion age) and the range within which this average estimate is expected to be with 90% certainty (shaded blue area);
  • [ultimate CR] the ultimate completion rate estimate (grey line) (for those aged up to 8 years above the intended completion age) and the range within which this average estimate is expected to be with 90% certainty (shaded grey area); the difference between the ‘timely’ and the ultimate completion rate is the consequence of very late entry and repetition – but the grey line and shaded area may not be visible if there is no gap between ‘timely’ and ultimate completion; and
  • the original source data on which these estimates were based, i.e. censuses and household surveys identified in the legend to the right of the plot.
